Travel Accident Insurance

It is a fact that we seem to be more likely to have an accident when we are in a strange country than we are at home which makes journeying without travel accident indemnity rather silly. By taking out travel accident [cover you can ensure that no matter what happens you will be covered even for problems with luggage, personal belongings, extras regarding the amount of coverage, what special health benefits, and a form of trip protection (in the event your trip is cancelled or your baggage is lost, you’re covered).

It may be time consuming to lookup, compare and choose the best travel and medical indemnity types and prices to suit your needs and budget but it is well worth it for your peace of mind. Many travel agents are not fully knowledgeable when it comes to understanding the details of various travel accident policies and may overlook something that could be essential to you or your family and few offer suggestions. In your lookup, don’t forget online consumer and comparison internet sites that do all the research for you, so all you have to do is choose the best policy for your needs.

Even if your present health protection will pay doctor and hospital bills when you’re out of the country, you may want to purchase a policy to get other important benefits such as coverage for air ambulance transport and on-site medical expense payment. In general terms, travel insurance protects all holiday costs against adverse events such as cancellation and interruption and also reimburses medical disbursements, the loss or damage of property and transit delays including medical evacuation and emergency transportation. Always ensure that a extensive travel accident policy is exactly that and covers every situation, even where baggage is delayed and necessary items need to be replaced as well as 24hr medical assistance. For people traveling outside the USA or Canada it is a good idea to make sure any medical protection covers benefits for overnight hospital stays, normally at least 100 bucks per night.

When an indemnity claim has to be lodged owing to an incident it is essential to notify the company who has supplied your travel protection as soon as you are able. On your return, provide all the requisite info to support the claim, including original medical or police reports, declarations, receipts, valuations, or other evidence of ownership. Just remember it is always a good idea to work closely with your travel insurance company because they will have experience in dealing with unlucky situations and can be of help with the claim process when you return. Choosing your travel accident insurance may at first seem a trivial matter but you can ensure if anything untoward is going to happen, it will happen when you are on vacation in another country and where you will need comprehensive cover the most.

Travel Sites

This is an exciting period for people to travel an as there are now very few inaccessible places on this planet. But, wherever you want to travel to, you can guarantee there will be a travel site that can give you details on every location. Travel has become so easy that many people no longer even bother going to the travel agent and use websites exclusively to book their vacation. Gone are the days when travel agents were popular and sought after as websites have popped up everywhere and promise all of their customer’s extraordinary savings.

There is obviously a great deal of trust required to use the internet this way as often the companies you deal with have never been anything else but an internet based business. While this may be the way to book your holiday now, I still enjoy sitting front of a real person and not a computer screen. My travel agent is also used to me changing my travel plans and knows that I will complain if something is not right. The problem I find with travel sites is there is no-one to speak to and I find this very impersonal; if you are fortunate enough to find someone to speak with they may be in another country for all you know.

If you do speak to someone, they may just tell you what you want to hear which is easy and what are the chances you will be able to find them? For peace of mind I like to use my travel agent and I don’t mind if it takes much longer to book the vacation or if the cost is higher because I know I can always speak to them about anything that isn’t right. I have a good friend who would never use a travel agent as she books all her last minute vacations using travel sites because she can save a packet of money. There are always huge savings to be had by waiting until the last possible moment to book but you have to be flexible with your travel arrangements to do this.

I have to say that I envy here but she has an understanding company that is far more flexible than mine which require more notice for a vacation. If you are flexible though, booking through a travel site could be incredibly worthwhile plus, travel sites offer discount coupons and prices for excursions or miscellaneous items when you book online. Still after all is said and done I still the use the internet a great deal for my vacation research before I actually go along to see my travel agent as I will have most of the information I require before I see her. I take that information and then see a travel agent because at least I know that if my vacation turns out to be a nightmare, I have someone to come back and yell at.
